PUSH YOUR SKIING WITH INSTRUCTOR-LED GUIDING
More and more SCGB Members are discovering the benefits of ILG…
The Ski Club’s Instructor-led Guiding service – informally known by the Club as simply ILG – has become a cornerstone of its on-snow offering throughout France and the wider Alps.
Introduced some years ago as a response to increased restrictions on Leading in the French Alps, it has now grown and flourished into a valuable service for our Members.
Operating across 11 French resorts, including several big hitters such as Tignes, Val d’Isère and all across the Three Valleys, the service also has a presence in St Anton in Austria and Verbier in Switzerland – two resorts that serve as a gateway to some of the world’s best off-piste terrain.
ILG is your chance to ski with a fully qualified guide at a fraction of the cost. We work extremely closely with New Generation Ski and Snowboard School, whose incredible experience working with the Club lends itself perfectly to serving our ILG skiers. We also work with a handful of extremely well-trusted local guides to serve resorts such as Flaine and Les Deux Alpes.
Our weekly schedule varies between the resorts in question. Each resort, however, will have at least one of each of the three types of sessions we operate: Resort Orientation, Introduction to Off-Piste, and Off-Piste Adventure. The former two are half-day sessions, while the Off-Piste Adventure is a full day romp through the powder. Our two headline resorts, Tignes and Val d’Isère, see around four Off-Piste Adventure sessions a week, and Méribel and Courchevel alternate days for these sessions, allowing members to head between the two on each resort’s ‘off’ days.
The meeting points and timings for several resorts are designed to allow Members based in neighbouring resorts the opportunity to join in our ILG sessions.
Alongside alternating sessions throughout the week in Méribel and Courchevel, La Tania and Les Menuires are close enough to their neighbouring resorts of Méribel and Val Thorens to allow skiers to join our sessions, either hopping on the first lift over the ridge or taking public transport up the valley.
Other easily accessible ILG resorts include Avoriaz from Morzine and Argentière from most of the Chamonix Valley, again using public transport.
It is a requirement on all Ski Club off-piste holidays, courses and ILG sessions to carry an avalanche transceiver, metal shovel and collapsible probe at all times. New Generation will be able to supply this equipment when booking with them.
