SNOZONE GOES NET ZERO
The Snozone indoor snowsports centres in Yorkshire, Milton Keynes and Madrid are now powered by energy that comes exclusively from 100% renewable, zero carbon sources. Snozone’s British venues use a combination of hydro, wind and solar-powered electricity from Bryt Energy, the Birmingham-based zero carbon business energy supplier, ensuring visitors can enjoy snowsports 364 days a year with a clean conscience.
DO YOUR DEVON BIT THIS SUMMER
Based in Dartmoor National Park, the climate neutral-certified outdoor lifestyle brand dewerstone is genuinely committed to protecting the planet and its local Devon landscapes. Mindful of the potential impact of the increased numbers of staycationers to Devon’s beaches this summer, dewerstone is paying for two volunteering days for each of its full-time employees, and one paid volunteering day for its part-time employees, to assist with the environmental management of the Devon coastline and Dartmoor National Park. Join the cause and bag a pair of dewerstone’s new Bantham wooden sunglasses, pictured right (£49.95; dewerstone.com), inspired by one of the team’s favourite beaches.
THE WORLD’S FIRST CIRCULAR SKI SHOP
One Tree at a Time is an eco-collective operating across the French Alps founded by Gavin Fernie-Jones, who runs Courchevel and Méribel’s Boot Lab ski boot fitting shops. Not content with encouraging alpine businesses to adopt more sustainable and environmentally conscious working methods with the pioneering One Tree at a Time pledge system, Gavin launched the world’s first circular ski shop in Bozel, near Courchevel last autumn. The shop stocks ex-warranty kit and old ski school uniforms that are delivered carbon neutrally, repaired and repurposed as necessary by the One Tree team, and sold with a guarantee that they’ll discard it sustainably at the end of its life. The shop also hosts regular workshops on clothing repair, greening businesses and servicing mountain kit.
