CLUB HOLIDAYS RETURN
After a year without skiing, Ski Club Members finally return to snow, thanks to Freshtracks holidays
Last November saw the first of the Ski Club’s 2021/22 Freshtracks departures take off for the Alps. More than 70 Members took to the snow as part of the jubilant Premier Party holiday, our annual season-opening trip to Tignes and always a firm favourite with Members. Meanwhile, around 40 Members joined the Pre-Season Progression week in Val Thorens, a favourite holiday for those shaking off the rust before the season properly kicks off.
Tignes and Val Thorens are chosen specifically for these trips thanks to their reliable early-season snow record, and there was certainly no shortage of the much missed white stuff. The Club was greeted by significant and consistent snowfall through late November and early December, bringing more than a metre-and-a-half over the first few weeks of the season.
Members in resort were joined by Ski Club Reps, new and old, who were taking part in the Ski Club Mountain Safety & Leadership Course. In total, over 30 Reps took part in our refresher courses, in addition to which we welcomed 12 Members as new Ski Club Reps, creating a crack squad poised to join you on holidays and in resorts across Europe this winter.
It was not all good news, however, as changing travel restrictions took their toll on the Club’s holidays. We lost several December departures to France following decisions made by the French and Swiss governments.
With the easing of restrictions across Europe over the past few weeks and the marked decline of Omicron cases in the UK, the Club’s outlook remains positive for most, if not all, of our remaining Freshtracks or Mountain Tracks holidays for this season.
