MATTERHORN SKI PARADISE - MORE THAN JUST SKIING
In Zermatt, right at the foot of the world-famous Matterhorn, skiers' hearts beat faster. The international ski area between Zermatt and Cervinia is not only impressive thanks to its unique panorama and the 360 km of slopes with guaranteed snow. Skiing takes on a completely different meaning here. The Matterhorn ski paradise combines the best of two cultures: Swiss quality meets Italian lifestyle.
The Matterhorn ski paradise is one of the most snow secure ski destinations of all. Thanks to the Theodul glacier, you can indulge in snow sports 365 days a year. From challenging black slopes to the easy slow slopes, in Zermatt everyone gets their money's worth, whether you' re a complete beginner or a ski crack.
Freestylers and freeriders can also let off steam. The Snowpark Zermatt promises lots of fun, action and spectacular tricks with its creative setup, the Railgarden, the Beginner Park, the Big Airs and the Funslope. Off-piste skiers can enjoy themselves on the yellow downhill slopes, which are protected from natural hazards but not groomed.
But that is by no means all. The Zermatt Bergbahnen have come up with some exciting offers to make a day of skiing in Zermatt even more exciting. At the "First Track", early birds can make their turns on the untouched slopes and enjoy the first sunrays of the day at the same time. After the first descent, a rich breakfast buffet awaits you - the perfect start to the day.
The "Mountain Dinner Night" is the perfect end to a successful skiing day. Night owls are introduced to the mystical world of the Matterhorn glacier paradise on selected dates, accompanied by a delicious 3-course menu in a cosy atmosphere. The nocturnal atmosphere and the view of the starry sky over Zermatt make the evening an unforgettable experience, surrounded by the high alpine panorama.
GB Kumme - The highlight of the winter season 20/21
The highlight of the upcoming winter season for guests and locals alike will be the opening of the new Kumme 10-person gondola lift. From 20 December 2020, the GB Kumme will transport 1500 people per hour from Tuftern to the Rothorn via two sections. Thanks to the spacious cabins and state-of-the-art technology, the ride will be very comfortable and fast. But the real highlight of the cable car is the technical innovation. The GB Kumme will be the first remote-controlled cable car in Switzerland. Thanks to sensitive monitoring technology and the Ropeway Operation Center, the installation can be remote-controlled by one person and guarantees the safety of the passengers. This means that there will be no employees in the stations. Thanks to the GB Kumme and the new snowmaking system, Zermatt Bergbahnen expects a massive upgrade of the ski area and even more high-quality fun on the slopes.
